The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is getting voice acting, but Link stays silent

Speaking with Polygon, series producer has admitted that it's "really difficult to leave an impression on players with just text". He first time he heard a character speak, early in the game's development, he says it "touched his heart".

Link, however, will remain silent. "If Link said something the user doesn’t agree with, that relationship between the user and Link would be lost", he said.

It's unclear how much voiceover the game will have - the footage emerging from E3 has still featured some text screens, but then very little of the game's plot or narrative has been unveiled.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launches on the Wii U and Nintendo NX next year. Here's a tremendous amount of gameplay footage to keep you occupied while you wait.
