Torment: Tides of Numenera now available on Steam Early Access

After more than 16 years, Planescape: Torment has a playable sequel.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is now available to all comers on Steam Early Access, having launched for Kickstarter backers last week. Grab it for $45 from Steam; only a Windows build is available for now.

You may find the going a bit rough, but remember that Wasteland 2 arrived on Steam in the adolescence of development. It evolved markedly during its Early Access period, as inXile fully leveraged the platform's strengths in working with its player base to build a better game. Given how well the crowdfunded RPG's performed we can expect a similar approach for Torment: Tides of Numenera.

One of the top five most-funded Kickstarter projects of all time, Torment: Tides of Numenera is the spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment, regularly listed among the best RPGs and even games of all time. Ditching the Dungeons and Dragons Planescape setting in favour of new property Numenera, the project attracted Chris Avellone, Colin McComb and Mark Morgan back to the Torment brand.
