PopCap took the stage to show Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 on stage during EA's gamescom 2015 conference. The developer gave a glimpse of a few new characters, the most interesting of which is a Mass Effect spoof called the Grass Effect Z7-Mech, spoofing the N7 designation. The Z7 is a pre-order bonus.

The game's elaborate hub/lobby was also shown. It's called Backyard Battleground and it's where you'll be spending your time waiting for a game by interacting with other characters, complete missions, or invite up to three friends that will all join you on your next round.

The game's new map, taking plac on the Moon, was also shown. Catch the gameplay trailer below
