Arslan: The Warriors of Legend brings the recent anime to life, Musou-style.

Koei-Tecmo has announced Arslan: The Warriors of Legend for PS4 and Xbox One in early 2016. It will also release on PlayStation 3, but in digital format only.

Like the One Piece: Pirate Warrior series, it seems to combine the gameplay of Omega Force's broader Musou (Warriors) franchise with characters and scenarios from the anime, thanks to gorgeous cel-shaded graphics. Viddy:

For those who came in late, The Heroic Legend of Arslan is a light novel series by Yoshiki Tanaka, which began in 1986 and is based on the Persian epic, Amir Arsalan. Gloriously illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano, the series has been adapted several times for manga and anime. The most recent and ongoing manga is by Hiromu Arakawa, best known for the original Fullmetal Alchemist, and published in Bessatsu Shōnen, the magazine that brought us Attack on Titan. It spawned an anime series that has been running since November 2014, and it's this series that is the basis for the new game.

Arslan: The Warriors of Legend is only the latest property to be brought into the Musou (Warriors) family, which also includes Hyrule Warriors, Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage and the upcoming Dragon Quest: Heroes, which is more of a straight RPG.

Omega Force is also teasing a new project that seems not to be a Musou game. It will be revealed next week.
