There's a new Rayman game in development, but don't get excited

Ubisoft has announced a new Rayman game and it's probably not what you're looking for.

Rayman Adventures is the latest game in the series, currently in development at Ubisoft Montpellier. The publisher announced the new game earlier for smartphones and tablets.

The press release does not single out platforms, but it lauds the game's look on retina displays - which are only available in Apple products. It also talks about the game's graphical fidelity, saying it represents a "major step in bringing an HD console-quality experience" to mobile, running at 60 frames-per-second.

Adventures sounds like it will be a proper Rayman game, not an endless runner. Which could indicate that Ubisoft will release it on consoles eventually.

The game remains beautiful as ever, judging by the below screenshots and trailer. It's still based on the the company's UbiArt engine, which powered Origins and Legends, as well as other games like Child of Light and Valiant Hearts.
