Cancelled ZombiU 2 game would have contained co-op - report

ZombiU 2, which popped up on Amazon France back in November, was apparently in development before being cancelled and contained co-op, according to someone in-the-know.

According to a recent podcast featuring Unseen64’s Liam Robertson, ZombiU 2 development started in early 2013 but never left the pre-production phase.

Robertson said he had seen a single image from the game, and it was similar to the original title aesthetically and the developer he spoke with was “very adamant about trying to do co-op survival horror properly," without any of the tension.

An idea for the game being considered was the ability for players to take divergent, multiple paths in order to stay true to the "survival aspect" of the title.

Like the local multiplayer option in the previous game, one player would have used the Pro controller and the other player the Wii U GamePad. Roberts was unsure whether co-op was once again local, or online. The documents he saw didn't contain information on the online aspects.

Ubisoft announced last year Watch Dogs would be its last mature title to be released on Wii U because Nintendo customers weren't interested.

After many delays, Watch Dogs was finally released on Wii U in November 2014.
