Valve's VR headset among GDC hardware reveals

Valve's VR headset and the final Steam Controller will be among a number of new pieces of hardware coming to GDC with Valve.

Valve isn't holding a Steam Developer Days event this year, instead focusing on GDC, so it'll have a lot to discuss at the show.

The company has now announced that it's bringing "previously-unannounced SteamVR hardware system" to the show. This is a bit of a surprise; we knew Valve had been experimenting with the tech, but this is the first indication that it's pushing for a full consumer model to rival Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus.

Valve is also bringing the final version of the Steam Controller, various upcoming Steam Machines, and "new living room devices".

GDC runs March 2 through 6 in San Francisco.
