Sony explains the PlayStation TV

PlayStation TV is the western name for the Vita TV, a strange little console. This video explains everything you need to know in a cheerful, family-friendly way.

PlayStation TV is a no-frills console that plays Vita cartridges or downloadable games, as well as digitally distributed PSOne and PSP games.

It's also capable of streaming PS4 games, much as the Vita itself can, but with the benefit of a larger screen and proper control pad.

It will cost $100 when it hits North America this month, and will be similarly thrifty when it arrives in Europe and beyond in November.

Sony seemed a bit surprised when western gamers began asking for the device, but has followed through on demand.
