A "shocking" new Pokemon project will be announced next week

The Pokemon Company has promised to announce next Tuesday what it calls a "shocking" new project for the series.

The new project will be announced via a Nico Nico (a popular Japanese video-sharing site) livestream on August 26, in collaboration with Japanese gaming bible Famitsu magazine.

Siliconera offers a couple of thoughts on what the announcement might be. It could be the Pikachu Detective game that was given a sneak peek on TV last year but was never formally announced. It could be Pokken Fighters, another title teased a year ago with a single image of Lucario about to face-off against Blaziken. Graphically it looked like a Wii U game.

Of course, it could also be nothing to do with games, Pokemon being the massive multimedia franchise that it is. Still, one can't help but hold out hope for a fully-fledged Pokemon (MMO?)RPG on Wii U. Would that count as shocking?
