Taking and sharing screenshots on Xbox One on Microsoft’s to-do list

Thursday, 29th May 2014 21:29 GMT By Catherine Cai

The Xbox One is strange sometimes. You can livestream the games you’re playing to Twitch to share with friends, but it’s still not possible to take screenshots and share them with your friends.

For a device that aspires to be an all-in-one entertainment solution, that’s a weird functionality to be missing out on. However, according to Xbox head Phil Spencer, taking and sharing screenshots via social media is on Microsoft’s list of things to do. When prompted on Twitter in regards to sharing social media, Spencer responded: “Yea, this is the list for the monthly updates, team is making great progress on the updates. More features to come.”

Having the ability to take and share screenshots will allow Microsoft to play a bit of catch up on that end with chief competitor Sony. The PlayStation 4 shipped with the ability to capture and share screenshots and clips to Facebook and Twitter.

Yep I use screenshots on my PS4 way more frequent than videos. I’m surprised this wasn’t a day one feature for XBO.
