Hyrule Warriors releases on Wii U this summer, and due to the legions of Zelda fans worldwide, Tecmo Koei hopes the brawler will sell over one million units.

Speaking with Nikkei Trendy, the firm’s Yoichi Erikawa said between Dynasty Warriors and The Legend of Zelda fans, he hopes the Wii U exclusive collaboration is a hit with both audiences.

“In gaming, this is a first-time collaboration,” he said as translated by Nintendo Everything. “As a new entry in the Warriors series, we plan to release the game Hyrule Warriors in collaboration with Nintendo in the summer of this year.

“In addition to our Warriors series fan base, Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda is also a very popular series with a large fan base, and I think it will become a great new market. Because of The Legend of Zelda’s legion of fans overseas, we are aiming to sell more than one million copies worldwide.”

A western release date hasn’t been announced, but a localization is definitely in the works.

    So they are counting on TLOZ fans to buy a Dynasty Warriors with a Zelda skin? Yep that sounds about right.

    As for their target it is not outlandish, but for a game that has gotten no marketing or hype since its announcement and still hasn’t got a release date beyond the vague “summer” (i know E3)…. And you take from that what you will.

    Legions of real Zelda fans should avoid this cynical cash in.

    I’m quite up for this, but I agree that it needs some sort of marketing support, plus a cheaper price point compared to say, Wind Waker HD. It’ll only do a million copies if;

    enough people actually know about it, particularly in Japan and also if enough new Wii U owners show up when MK8 comes out or E3 ends up being a barn stormer for Nintendo, timing it for when Japanese gamers are hankering for more after MK8 could be prudent.

    *sigh* the one time Link is left handed again is in this. Look, I’m ok with something like this as long as they make an official announcement of a Zelda title and show it and say something like “Unlockables from this game unlock in that game” or something involving the NFC”Nintendo Collectible Figures”

    @SinfulKnight didn’t finish, I lost interest in DW long ago. Yeah the Gundam and One Piece were nice additions and just because this is Zelda it’ll do ok but its not right. Its like they want to piss off their original fan base by acting like they still crap gold. Their PR ppl need to step their games up.
