Nippon Ichi's next project is htoL #NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki

Nippon Ichi has made a spitied bid for our annual "most annoying title to type" award with the announcement of its latest endeavour, htoL #NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki.

Gematsu reports this egregiously intercapped Vita exclusive has players controlling light and shadow fireflys, guiding a girl named Mion.

The players uses analog touch inputs to guide Mion through the environment. She'll blindly follow the light firefly, while the shadow firefly can be used to remove obstacles. In the shadow world, enemies and traps can harm Mion.

Director and character designer Masayuki Furuya said players should feel sympathy for Mion, but that it's a "die and remember" type of game; I'm guessing this means trial-and-error.

Western release has not been touted.

Nippon Ichi is the developer of the Disgaea series, among many other properties.
