PS4 stock levels in the UK “still not enough,” says Sony

Thursday, 30th January 2014 10:54 GMT By Matt Martin

UK MD Fergal Gara moves to reassure consumers that demand will be met, global 4.2m sales is a “suppressed figure.”

At the announcement of the PS Vita slim this morning, Sony’s UK managing director Fergal Gara said that his territory is still fighting to fulfil demand at retail.

The company has announced sales of 4.2 million units globally, but Gara pointed out that the system is yet to launch in Japan and is still under supplied in key retail markets.

“We are still not satisfied, we are still not in stock fully at retail,” he said.

“Of course we haven’t launched in Japan and we’re still not fully meeting demand in other major territories. That [4.2 million] is a suppressed number and one that will grow considerably from here.

“The UK is a big chunky part of that. I’m very proud we got our fair share of stock, but it’s still not enough. We want more, we need more. Retail is still not stocked fully.”

Which ever Press Muppet said in the past that console gaming was dead needs to choose a sauce to go with their hat.

I was going to wait a few months before taking the plunge but after seeing the Killzone pack in stock last week I decided to go for it.

Loving the console so far and no regrets leaving MS behind after 2 generations…

if the stock is so low then why can i find it in every store i go?
both MS and Sony need to realise that the fact a few stores in huge cities sell out, doesn’t mean there is no stock. Even in Bristol and Leeds you find both consoles with easy. And since most gamers in UK buy online (where every retailer has stock), i seriously fail to understand the issue.

In Roma, Italy stores get like 2-3 units a week to satisfy unfulfilled preorders.
Every store, even smaller chains, even stand-alone stores say that stock problems will be solved in March when the cargo with the serious stock will arrive.

In the Netherlands it’s virtually impossible to get your hands on one. Even online, sold out or delivery times up to 12 weeks. Except for the Knack bundle, it’s in stock for only 559 euros. That’s really a fantastic deal, you get a 399 euro console and for the small amount of 160 euros extra a really great game.

    The link:

No extra controller, no Camera, Knack is the only extra. At total ripoff if you ask me. I don’t know the company Billgames.nl, so can’t say if it legit or not.

The company seems legit after quick google search and reviews, but they are doing exactly what most people did sell for higher price. Those bundles should have an extra controller at least. This way its just a major rip-off indeed.

They also have the Killzone bundle up http://www.billgames.nl/playstation-5/hardware/sony-playstation-4-console-500-gb-met-killzone-shadow-fall.html
