Nintendo is working on a new console and handheld called Fusion DS and Fusion Terminal – massive rumor

Tuesday, 21st January 2014 19:54 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Here’s a juicy rumor for you to take with a grain of salt today: Nintendo is working on a new console and handheld which will not only contain some decent specs, but will run 3DS and Wii U games. These rumored systems are called Fusion DS and Fusion Terminal. Head below for some extra information.

According to a source close to Nintendo News which it has vetted as being reliable in the past, the system specs handed over contain some “questionable code names” as noted by the site.

Nintendo News states repeatedly to take all of this is an extreme rumor for now, and we agree 100%.

Still, in the off-chance this is slightly true, it’s nice to know Nintendo is working on a truly next-gen system to bring to market.

Again, it cannot be stressed enough that this is a massive rumor, but as Destructiod notes, it still makes for an interesting talking point.

I am totally calling bullshit on this only because whenever I do, it turns out to be true.

Could this be the turning point for Nine’s not so great current shape ? I hope so…

For handhelds most definitely for the time being, for their consoles well…

A hit and a miss basically.

    That must mean…

    No it can’t be!

    It isn’t true.

Its just a coincidence that the Pokemon rumour mentioned this.

    I refuse:

Whatever they decide to do, I hope Nintendo don’t completely dump ‘Miiverse’…

It’s such a great addition to an online community and it would be a shame to waste all the potential. Obviously that would mean the next console has to have a controller with a second screen like Wii U, and I’d be fine with that. If it was portable too then that’s just a bonus.

This sounds like wishful thinking. The 3DS isn’t doing too badly and the WiiU hasn’t been out that long.

Okay for some reason i sense that this is some sort of collaborative effort between the two “fusion” products, they could develop games that take advantage of the cross factors (Play/Share etc.).

I don’t believe it but it is the direction I think Nintendo could go, a console-handheld hybrid just makes total sense for them.

It’s being stated that it will be shown at E3.

I love the idea of having a 3DS slot in the stationary console.
Sounds like the “gameboy player” hardware addon to me, which I liked very much back in the days.

Given that specs aren’t known for that last two Nintendo consoles, the stench of bullshit coming off this ‘timely’ rumour is impossible to ignore.

Additionally, specs were not the issue with the Wii U. And all the zealots insist that power doesn’t matter (apart from when it does, of course).

Also, my experience of Miiverse is that it’s a deliberately gimped and curated forum. It is no sort of revolution of any kind. Unless you’ve never belonged to an online community, that is.

fake, why would console have 3ds slot…. no point of the handheld then.

But will they be region free?

    Anyway this smells like bullshit.

If this is true, Xbox One & PS4 lookout! Those are some powerful specs!

    nah. call BS.

Would be nice to have….but nah.

If anyone thinks this system will contain that GPU you must be having a laugh.

That is the same GPU as the AMD R9 290X (2816 SP) NOT A CAT IN HELL CHANCE!!!

That thing would over heat in a small form factor case that consoles come in.

The new systems (PS4, XB1) have an APU (basically a CPU and GPU on the same die) meaning there is only ONE real main source of heat to try and control which is pretty easy. This thing would have two EXTREMELY hot running components the GPU, CPU, and then there is a second CPU for WiiU backwards compatibility (obviously would be turned off when not in use) but that is STILL three points of heat source to control, meaning THREE heatsinks needed. MEANING this thing would be FUCKING MASSIVE!!!!

If anyone believes this you are a retard.

Maybe just maybe with a die shrink on the GPU from its current 28nm to 22nm could this be even remotely possible.

This just can’t be true guys..the 3DS came like hardly 3 years ago and they’re making a new handheld already? The same goes for the Wii U which is only one year in the market! If Nintendo does this..I’m out!Why the heck did I pay for consoles that will just stop getting games already?

  21. Spider Law

if it were true, i still wouldnt buy it. I just got the Wii U, would be a harsh way for Nintendo to say “fuck you” to their loyal fans….but i wouldnt put it past them now that i think about it.
Been a loyal fan since NES and they have said “Fuck You” to the fans on multiple occasions.

    Buy a Vita and a ps4 like I did.

  23. Doppleganger

@21 relax if its true its all backwards compatible. You only in the hole 200 dollars for the console and if you sell the console on ebay you’ll be out 100 dollars. Big deal.

@22 I feel sorry for you.

Shame on vg247 for printing such obvious bullshit, you’d have to be very stupid to take this remotely seriously.

  25. Spider Law

Fuck me for saying something negative about Nintendo.

Obviously you are a consumer that has never been on the management/sales sides of things to see the real loss for somebody that purchased a Wii U if this happened to be real.
plus, i bought it when it came out $ there is that.

and why feel sorry for 22? That was the wisest choice any console gamer can make right now.

Yeah….and leave everyone that bought a Wii U in the cold…fake.

@26 WiiU is dead, you know it, I know it, they know it.

  28. Erthazus

If that’s true (which is bullshit) then this shit is more powerfull then PS4 or Xbox One combined. RX200 is fucking powerfull.

But I don’t believe it because two processors and one which is tri-core just for tasks from Nintendo? This is some sort of magic if Microsoft or Sony could not do.

Or they are planning to release this +10 years in the future. lol.

“Shame on vg247 for printing such obvious bullshit, you’d have to be very stupid to take this remotely seriously.”

And shame on anyone who cannot look at this an laugh about it like I did.

Maybe I should just go back to stoic reporting and “here look at this shiny new trailer tee hee”. Wow.

My guess is this Fusion Terminal is probably scheduled to come out in late 2016. Nintendo hasn’t had hardware with competitive specs since the Gamecube.
