No Mario on smartphones, says Iwata

Nintendo CEO and president Satoru Iwata has reiterated the firm's stance regarding brining some of its games to mobile platforms.

Following Nintendo's announcement that the firm failed to meet its sale targets, with an expected loss of $336 million, Iwata spoke to shareholders and investors about the possibility of bringing some of its franchises to smartphones, only to reiterate the firm's old stance of saying no to the prospect.

"The spread of smart devices does not spell the end of game consoles. It's not that simple," he said. Adding that despite the current financial situation "It doesn't mean that we should put Mario on smartphones."

This stance is usually at odds with what some industry veterans, and industy analysts are clamouring for.

What do you think, do you think Mario could work on an iPhone? Let us know your thoughts.
