Resident Evil: Outbreak back online via fan server

If you have a Japanese copy of Resident Evil: Outbreak or Outbreak File #2 and a PS2 capable of playing them, you can take advantage of the efforts of the Outbreak Server Recreation Project. This fan group has put laboriously put together a private server for the survival horror titles, re-enabling online multiplayer years after Capcom retired its official servers. If you’re interested, a website has additional details of how this was achieved. Outbreak first released in the west in 2004 and although fans swear by the experience it was hampered by the PS2′s fussy network capabilities and limited online multiplayer user base.

This is really nice. There are so many great, online-oriented games that have been killed due to death of their servers.

I wish there was a way to keep them playable or at preserve them in some form because for 99 percent of online / MMO games, death of servers means the death of game for good (Like the destruction of original film copies of silent movies).
