Killzone: Shadow Fall developer diary hypes for launch day

Tour Guerrilla Games and learn more about PlayStation 4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall’s cast, weapons, and new multiplayer modes in this new developer dairy, just in time for the console’s release tonight.

Dave’s been playing a fair bit of Killzone: Shadow Fall, and while he’s impressed with the graphical leaps enabled by the PS4′s grunt, he’s not so blown away by the campaign. Shadow Fall, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Warframe are the only shooters available day one, although there are plenty of goodies in the full PS4 launch line up.

    I just finished Shadowfall today and I have to say I was not impressed. The visuals are incredible and proves technically Guerrilla Games are very proficient, but the story and it’s telling is some of the clumsiest, heavy-handed, melodrama I have ever played in a game. I find it hard to believe that adults wrote it and really hope Guerrilla get the wake up call that this sort of fumbling storytelling does nothing to engross their audiences.

    I for one am done with the Killzone franchise and will need some convincing before I play another game authored by Guerrilla Games.

    Guerrilla’s strong suit was never their story. They are practically the Crytek of Sony. All flash, the gameplay is always lacking and the hamfisted plot is to be expected.

    I dunno… I liked it but I’m not typically critical of story-lines. I thought the game-play was fun and their use of the touch-pad was great. Honestly, I want to play through it again.
