Titanfall gets new screenshot, “special announcement” coming tomorrow

Tuesday, 22nd October 2013 00:19 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Respawn’s new shooter has produced a gorgeous new screenshot ahead of some sort of new reveal tomorrow.

The Titanfall Twitter account posted the screenshot below along with an exhortation to “check back tomorrow for a special announcement”.

Titanfall is coming to PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in early 2014. A multiplayer-only game, it draws on Microsoft’s cloud servers in a variety of ways. It has jetpacks, wall running, and enormous robots. Sam and Dave get misty-eyed when they talk about it.

Thanks, Gematsu.

Xbone bundle maybe? I’d pre-order one for sure if they do a bundle.

And yet still to see Xbone footage.

@2 would they want to talk about bundles they can’t yet sell when they have consoles to move come Nov?

Titanfall will launch with optional Third Person Camera Mode allowing the player to actually see the wall-running and jetpacking

@5 – I haven’t laughed that hard in quite some time. Sad part is, I can sincerely see it happening.

@3 – I love you, fanboys/girls. Just when I think I’ve read the most ridiculous comment, someone 1-ups the ante.

Xbox One exclusive Beta is most likely. It’s too soon for a “pre-order now for free DLC piece we cut from the full game!” advertisements, and a Titanfall bundle obviously won’t happen until next spring (or later) when the game is actually coming out.

I’m calling an Xbox One (possible 360 & PC, but likely not) beta that will begin on launch day.

If true, it would be Microsoft’s way of competing against Killzone at launch.

Major Nelson: “As far as being an exclusive that’s really a question for Titanfall – I’m not worried about it though.”
    4th comment…
Slippery English for not being able to confirm it’s exclusive.

^ Fascinating – Respawn have never hidden their interest in other platforms – perhaps Sony have stepped up with some servers to make it happen sooner rather than later. The last thing they’ll want to do is hurt the visibility of a new property by constraining it to half of the market.

That’s a very good target tender.

It’s going to be the Beta – the full tweet more or less confirms that. Will be interesting to see how early they can start it. The sooner the better for MS, get that buzz going.

I reckon MS have paid for a year exclusivity and doubt a PS4 version will be talked about yet.

Shame there’s no single player campaign in this game tho…

@17 umm let me see: Major Nelson is hedging on Titanfall’s exclusivity?

Just as a reminder, Titanfall is not an exclusive, rather a Microsoft exclusive for now. Wouldn’t want anyone here to get their head bitten off by others :P

Speaking about it possibly coming to the PS4. If that was in the cards, it will be announced way after launch.

I really don’t think Microsoft would let this go to PS4, it’ll become their second child to Halo.

Do MS realistically have much of a choice in the matter? It’s developed by Respawn and published by EA. It would be up to them whether it stays exclusive to MS. I can see why it is currently not on PS platforms, but I doubt it will stay that way for longer than 6 months to a year.

Played it for 10 mins recently – seemed pretty good

You are right but EA and Microsoft’s new partnership seems like they are both getting too good of a deal from each other to care about the additional sales they would get from the PS4, It’s in Microsoft’s best interests to keep it exclusive and I’m sure if it isn’t a flop that they’d pay a huge amount to keep it that way.
