PS4: French retailers warn that new orders will not be fulfilled until 2014

Tuesday, 8th October 2013 10:57 GMT By Dave Cook

PlayStation 4 appears to be in short supply in France, according to a fresh report that suggests retailers are advising customers that all new orders will not be honoured until January 2014.

Jeux Video reports that retailers Micromania and FNAC are advising customers that PS4 is now sold out until next year.

FNAC has stated, “We can no longer guarantee delivery before the month of January 2014,” and Micromania simply advised, “all available parts have already been sold”.

It follows today’s reports that UK retailer SimplyGames is forcing current PS4 pre-order customers to pay for a higher bundle deal or risk losing their day-one delivery. It’s causing quite a stir this morning.

Meanwhile, Michael Pachter reckons worldwide PS4 pre-orders have topped 1.5 million so far.

What do you make of the above?

Australian retailers have been saying this for at least two months now. One can only wonder how many Xbox Ones are being pre ordered every day as a result. Personally I suspect Sony are losing massive sales to their rival over this inability to meet demand.

@3 or… theyve already preordered and will be attaining such massive sales (hence the now prevailing shortage in units) so that @2′s prediction of domination is a mere formality…

just saying that the high number of preorders theyve garnered throughout the year to this point has put them in an unassailable position, and so arent losing that much to microsoft after all.

you could be right, but it could also just as easily be the other way round!

@3 Yeah…I can’t see that many people going “Oh, I can’t get the console I want. Welp, I’ll just spend another £100 on the system I’m not all that jazzed about instead.”

@3 French (and mainland Europe in general) have a massive boner for Sony (while also being anti-MS).Even if the XB1 was at the same price as the PS4 French people would still wait to buy a PS4 instead.

Everyone should have expected this. Demand is to high for PS4. Some of these sales will go to XB1 but not the majority.

@7 Everyone just ignores him/her know
