Saturday, 5th October 2013 16:37 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

The Long Dark Kickstarter page has been updated with the first screenshots of the title from Hinterland, a studio comprised of ex-Relic, Bioware, Riot and Volition developers. We’ve posted them for you below. The episodic first-person sandbox survival experience set in a North America after a disaster has 10 days left to reach its $200,000 goal, and as of post time, 3,249 backers have pledged $106,376. The Long Dark is slated for PC, Mac, and Linux in October 2014. Thanks, Splatteredhouse.

I am gonna kick and scream if this gets left to die. They haven’t done a great job attracting people to the upper tiers, but fuck me, that concept is just outstanding.

It’s basically The Road, except it’s set in the North, and the world has been brought to its knees by aurora. I’m fucking sold right there – Could you imagine a more beautiful apocalypse?

Please, please, for the love of gaming, fund this shit!

Nice early screenshots. If you’re interested to know more about the game, we’ve published an interview just yesterday with Raphael Van Lierop, Creative Director of Hinterland Games.

If you’re doing a Kickstarter and you’re not an established developer or you’re not working on something familiar to people, you really need to set your pledge tiers appropriately. Requiring $20 minimum just to get the game is asking for failure. You need impulse pledges. $10 is an impulse pledge, not $20.
