New The Inner World trailer spins a bonkers yarn

The Inner World is a point-and-click adventure from Headup games, and a new trailer has emerged ahead of Friday’s release that focuses on (pretty weird) story. Check it out after the break.

The game is set in the world of Asposia, a strange place that exists in a hollow space and therefore manages to defy all laws of physics. Of course, it’s now in peril, and you must point-and-click your way to save it.

It’s an interesting looking game. The visuals are a mix between gorgeously drawn backdrops and characters that have a faint whiff of MS Paint about them. The voice-acting and character design makes it reminiscent of a Saturday morning kids cartoon.

The Inner World will be released on Steam and GOG this Friday, and is expected in future on iOS.

Thanks, Blue’s News.

There was something nagging at me for the first few seconds of this and I wasn’t sure what it was, then I twigged onto it, and after that it became a massive nostalgia fest.

That trailer reminds me so much of certain point & click adventure videos from the ’90s. Specifically stuff like Torin’s Passage, maybe. And maybe Kyrandia. Mostly Sierra stuff, then, I think? I suspect that this will have much less random dying, though, which was always something of a flaw with the Sierra games. Still, it was their flavour, I guess, which separated them from LucasArts.

But yes, this reminds me so much of a Sierra adventure, and I mean that in a good way.
