Playroom will come pre-loaded on PS4

Playroom will come pre-loaded on PS4, according to the PlayStation website.

Playroom, which was demoed at E3, makes use of the PlayStation Camera and the DualShock 4 controller in order to make an augmented reality robot run around your livingroom.

It can interact with the player, and can create other illusions through the controller. This will allow many, many tiny robots to pop up on the floor of your room.

Should drive your cats crazy, we think.

Playroom can also be used with your smartphone, tablet or Vita. Players will use these devices to draw an object, flick it into the screen and give the tiny robots something to play with.

You will need to purchase the PlayStation Camera in order to use Playroom.

PS4 is out this holiday season.

Thanks, CVG.

Bookmarked news piece so I can see ps3fanboy talk about how good this is, but then go on to bash Microsoft and Xbox One for similar things.

It’s going to be a pointless venture for both parties and if anyone was to do it right it would be sony.

Unlike most clueless folk, I can see the brilliance clearly behind this. This is a great way to sell the camera.

Also, it’s downright pathetic to see Xbox fans bash this move, yet they defend the Kinect bundled with the Xbox One – a device that is single handedly keeping the console at a significant power disadvantage to the PS4, due to its cost.

I actually thought the demo looked kinda fun. Gimmicky, sure. But I still remember fondly how I had a blast with Eyetoy back in the day..

@5 I would believe that they will give you a with and without camera version of the PS4. That would be the smarter way to do it at least.

It’s weird this comes with PS4 and the camera isn’t in the box, yet the Xbone DOES come with Kinect 2.0 and as of yet doesn’t seem to have any camera pack-in…

MS should have paid ‘double fine’ to do a proper sequel to Happy Action Theatre to help ease people into their next ten years of Spycam life.

I don’t understand all of this anger. If you don’t want to play it then don’t play it, its free. It isn’t like you are paying for it.

People get something free and still find ways to bitch about it. You guys need to grow the hell up.

@14 – Keep in mind the anger is from people whose tongues are coarse and brown from the amount of ass kissing they do on the altar of Microsoft.

They’re not really angry, they’re just trying to put down something from Sony, because that’s what their tiny, tiny little minds are programmed to do.

Still not convinced, but camera + Knack seems like a good deal.

At least I can unplugg PS4Eye if not used.
