Sucker Punch didn’t “cash out” with Sony acquisition, says co-founder

Thursday, 27th June 2013 00:21 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Sly Cooper and InFamous developer Sucker Punch didn’t join the Sony Worldwide Studios family for financial reasons.

“I think that we saw the sizes of teams continuing to grow year over year,” Sucker Punch co-founder Brian Fleming told GameInformer in a video interview transcribed by Destructoid.

“As a one-team shop you feel increasingly exposed. You feel the weight of the 100 families that depend on us being a business.

“Central to that, and going back to our core values, wasn’t that we felt like this was the moment we could cash out at all, but was the chance to stay working with the people that gave us the best chance to make great games.”

Sony picked up Sucker Punch in August 2011, after the release of InFamous 2. The developer has since been working on Infamous: Second Son, which is expected in the first quarter of 2014 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Welcome to vg247.. The place were a sentence could be made into a full blown article. Where one persons hard work gets recycled to the point that its dragged out for months on end. Doesn’t take away from the site though because every other gaming site now does the same exact thing.

It’s just what gaming news has turned into, it’s why somewhere like E3 was so jammed with people, because everyone and there dog can wake up on morning and call them selfs a gaming journalist to get review code (free games early). You just have to look at Youtube to see everyone’s doing it.

There’s this one dude on YouTube who sets his camera phone on a table while he’s eating diner calling himself a journalist while reviewing a review copy of last of us saying “I can’t give it top marks because the multiplayer doesn’t work” Dude you have it 1 week before its officially out!!!

You just sit on n4g and copy and paste a story onto your site. Bam. Simple.
