Half-life 2 update excites fanbase, appears to be language pack

Wednesday, 26th June 2013 00:09 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Half-life 2 received a whopping 3.7GB update on Steam today, leading to much furious speculation that Valve was beginning some sort of campaign leading up to the launch of Half-life 3, as when a bunch of mysterious indie updates turned out to be a Portal ARG. But according to those who’ve poked around in the game’s code, it’s just a language pack adding Korean, Portuguese and Thai localisations. Settle, petal.

Thanks, MCV.

    it does not matter if they are trolling or not, Valve could be a little nervous about releasing anything that relate to Half-Life 3, cause the fanbase expect so much, they have to make it perfect form the first trailer to the full game, if they make just one mistake, people will be smashing windows.

    Easy now people, we waiting for so long, we can keep a year or more running without HL2

    @3 You beat me to it! Damn you. But yeah with the recent leaks pointing towards HL3 I know its a long shot but this is something Valve would probably do to troll their fans and then come out right and say “No, we are 100% NOT working on HL3″ only for a month or so later to release the full game LOL… THAT WOULD BE EPIC!

    No videos, no screens, no info, out right deny the whole game, then just add it to STEAM…. The internet would literally shut down!

    DO IT VALVE! DO IT!!!

    Steam support on Twitter just responded to the HL2 Update:

    WARNING: The most recent HL2 update has some issues. We’re working to fix this, you can pause the update for now. 예측하지 못한 결과에 대비하라…

    Translation: Prepare for unexpected results.

    @2
    They shouldn’t.
    If anything, Diablo 3 has proven that fans will immediately eat up anything they have to offer, no matter how bad the dish was served.
