Perfect World announces formation of Cryptic North in Seattle

Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have announced the formation of Cryptic North, a new division of Cryptic Studios led by director Russell Williams.

Williams and the Cryptic North team are working closely with Cryptic Studios on the continuing development of Champions Online, as well as supporting efforts on both Star Trek Online and Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter.

"We are excited to welcome Russell Williams and the team at Cryptic North to the Perfect World family," said Alan Chen, CEO, Perfect World Entertainment. "Williams' experience as a leader and creator of award-winning titles will play a critical role at Cryptic North and help grow Champions Online."

Prior to joining Cryptic North, Russell Williams co-founded Flying Lab Software, where he oversaw the development and launch of Pirates of the Burning Sea. Williams also worked as a co-designer and producer for Rails Across America, a PC strategy.

Cryptic North is based in downtown Seattle, Washington.
