More Remember Me news for you: a new live-action trailer is below, and provides a “reflective and somber look” into the final thoughts of Antoine, the Founder of Memorize. It also shows Nilin being taken to the Bastille – which is the beginning of the game. There’s also some screenshots along with some new concept art below. Remember Me is out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 June 4 in North America and in Europe on June 7.

This is enthralling. Dues Ex levels thereof. It’s so unusual to see a story come out of the mainstream with the ability to captivate me so, and yet this has. This clearly isn’t aimed at the usual console crowd, that’s for sure. I worry this won’t sell all that well, much like interesting precursors such as Mirror’s Edge which also had unusual gameplay and tossed around philosophy and ethics with its plot. Brilliant stuff.

It’s a shame people don’t want more like this. Instead, the average person just seems to want to shoot armoured men or monsters in the dick, or they want to be some steroid pumped idiot with a compensatory weapon to swing at defenceless animals. That’s a damned shame. It makes me wonder why more people don’t ask for more than that, but I suppose it fits within small, confined, yet comfortable comfort zones.

But I would like to see more like this, not less. The notion of sharing memories to increase global empathy and understanding is one of those topics I love to see explored — for better or worse. That’s the way we’re going as a species, anyway. This is something that’s going to happen, eventually, so we might as well brush up on the potential of it.

You. Yes you, damn it. WATCH THIS. It’s brilliant. It deserves to be watched.
