Google Play officially launches game services for Android and iOS

Google has come clean about the new game services package added to the Google Play app store suite earlier this week.

Described as "a core part of building a gaming platform for the next generation of games", the suite of services adds achievements, leaderboards, multiplayer, and cloud saves.

Interestingly, these services aren't restricted to Android, but available for iOS and other connected devices - meaning developers can support cross-platform saves, community, and possibly even multiplayer.

As suspected, multiplayer is managed via Google Plus, and as detailed in earlier reports, there will be auto-matchmaking as well as invites.

World of Goo, Super Stickman Golf 2, Beach Buggy Blitz, Kingdom Rush, Eternity Warriors 2 and Osmos are all already using the new tools.
