American McGee, the developer behind Alice and Alice: Madness Returns, has been revealed to be working with his studio Spicy Horse on Kickstarters for a new Alice title and a title based on The Wizard of Oz.
A Facebook page for Alice: Otherlands, intended as next title in the series, has existed for some time now. Yesterday the page was updated with a note from the developer revealing potential backer reward tiers for a Kickstarter.
The team is using the Facebook page to look for Alice cosplayers whose image could be used in the campaign. The post also reveals that the Kickstarter is aiming for a launch in July if negotiations with EA, who published the previous Alice titles, go well.
Spicy Horse’s Wizard of Oz project has seemingly been a non-mover for some time now. It first hit trouble when Atari cancelled it way back in 2004. The game appears to still exist, with a response this week on the Alice Facebook page telling an enquiring user “It’s already in the works.”
Joystiq reached out to Spicy Horse for comment as was told by Kelly Heckman, the studio’s community manager that the game “is not, in any way, shape or form, the title from 2004.”
Heckman also revealed that both are intended to go the Kickstarter route – though which appears first will depend upon how Alice negotiations with EA go.
