Total War Rome 2: free Pontus DLC faction revealed, detailed

Friday, 26th April 2013 14:08 GMT By Dave Cook

Total War: Rome 2 developer The Creative Assembly has announced a new, free DLC faction for its sprawling strategy epic. Say hello to the Pontus.

The Pontus will be made available via Steam on launch day, and are the game’s 9th faction. The content will be free to everyone, no exceptions.

They dwell in the mountains around the Black Sea and they’re a dab hand at combat, with fast scythed chariots capable of tearing through troops with ease. The faction has its sights set on blazing a trail south, through the Arabian Lands, or venturing west to tussle with Asia and Greece.

We’ve also received a new episode the studio’s Rally Point dev diaries, which focuses on the Pontus.

You see, this is really, really cool. I love it when developers are like “thanks for buying the game day 1, here’s some more content to make it even sweeter!”

At the same time, the game hasn’t even been released yet and we’re getting “DLC”? Is this not just a day 1 patch that is content rich? More to that point, is any free DLC classed as “DLC” or is it just patch content?

Lol!! This is incredible! The level of assholeness that some companies have reached IS INCREDIBLE!! I’m amazed that we actually get the full game sometimes.. I’m sure we’ll have to pay for 1080p resolutions soon, or for 16bit or higher quality sounds or even for interfaces. GG Creative B/S!! Pull this s**t again and I’m buying this from piratebay.
