Xbox Live “Play to Earn” incentives live from April 1

Thursday, 28th March 2013 16:12 GMT By Dave Cook

Microsoft has launched a new “Play to Earn” incentive called MyPunchcard on Xbox Live. It will gift players with free MS Points for spending big – like a cashback scheme – and more.

Major Nelson posted a run-down of how MyPunchcard works on his blog today, detailing three reward tiers that will go live from April 1.

  1. Play 20 hours of any combination of arcade games, receive a free avatar item
  2. Purchase any four arcade games for 400 Microsoft Points or more from Xbox LIVE, receive a one month Xbox LIVE Gold membership
  3. Spend 3200 Microsoft Points on arcade games, receive 800 Microsoft Points in return.

The tiers above are only open to Xbox Live Gold members. Meet all three criteria in April and you will earn a place in what Nelson calls upcoming “VIP Exclusives”, whatever those are.

Can we not just have a lottery where the winner gets 8,753,500 Microsoft points?

Spend 3200 points on arcade games and get 800 points in return.. Yea that’s pretty much a rip off.. Anybody who thinks that’s the way to go are completely nuts.. That’s bad business on your end.. You don’t even get half back.. A complete rip off..

Well i like this, i like the gold members offers for time to time, they do offer really good deals on arcade games, and adding this it will make more appealing, now the question if this will work on monthly basis after april, that would be even better.

I hate when people bitch about something like this: If you were spending the money anyway, why not get something back?? I know it’s not great but it’s something. Club Nintendo is meh at best but at least they’re trying. Sony tries with it’s free games on PSN too.

You know what?? I’ve friggin had it with Microsoft. They better work on some exclusive games or I can’t wait to be done with them come next generation…Spend 60$ a year, to not get shit back, then oh yeah if you spend MORE money to get points then we’ll give you a couple more points…Playstation Plus FTW…20 Hours for a free AVATAR item…oh yeah that’s completely fair *sarcasm*, who the fuck cares about ONE month of XBOX Live…these people are ridiculous…
