PS4 to be playable at consumer events during 2013

Tuesday, 26th February 2013 00:01 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Sony Computer Entertainment American boss Jack Tretton has promised consumers will be able to go hands-on with the PlayStation 4 throughout the year.

Speaking with Bloomberg in the wake of the PS4′s reveal, Tretton confirmed the “a lot of playable content” console will be on show at E3 2013 – a bit of a no-brainer, really.

More interestingly for regular punters, he promised consumer hands-on over the course of 2013.

“Most people will be able to [get their hands on the PS4 before November],” Tretton said. “We know who our consumers are and we’re going to get it to them.”

Tretton’s comments may refer to in-store demos and similar marketing promotions, but it’s also likely to presage appearances at consumer events like gamescom in August, the Tokyo Game Show and Eurogamer Expo in September.

Tretton was otherwise cagey throughout the interview, defending the PS4′s somewhat mainstream-unfriendly reveal, politely welcoming Microsoft’s competition, and refusing to be drawn on price.

Thanks, Johnny.

so hes basicly saying november is a window for the ps4, announcing it at E3 and showing us the console and more gameplay and possible other titles and the price would be nice so i can start paying it off. i thought my gamestop would start preording but there waiting for the actual date and price. he said he thinks the place holder prices are stupid, why charge people what they think its going to be, it makes no sense. you can get on a list for an e-mail or text message
