Tribal Towers announced by Ruffian Games, Crackdown 3 not on the “production table”

Ruffian Games has announced its newest title, Tribal Towers, and confirmed it’s not working on Crackdown 3 at the moment.

The firm also noted in the blog post announcing the game, that it is not working on Crackdown 3.

“It’s simply not an offer that’s on our production table right now, so rather than dwell on this lets get back to the real story here,” noted Ruffian co-founder Billy Thomson who also said the studio is working on a :secret project” at the moment with a “well-known publisher.”

“Right now we’re continuing work on consoles but we also want to test the water in the Indie scene because it’s that scene that seems to be the most innovative and exciting and it allows for smaller teams and shorter development cycles which allow us the agility we all believe we need going forward.”

Little is known about Tribal Towers, other than a screenshots posted of the work-in-progress.

Have a look at the firm’s blog for more.

Thanks, Eurogamer.

Crackdown IP belongs to MS. For all we know some other team is making it into a 720 launch title. Or not.

So Ruffian is not MS exclusive?

I think they are an independent studio.

They speak of consoles here, so it indeed is probably not even an MS exclusive.

Server fell over but it’s back up now. Sorry about that. If you want to read Billy’s thoughts in full you can again now. http://bit.ly/W1uWAW

Thank god they’re not working on it. Crackdown 2 was fun, but not at all what I would call justice for a sequel. It was basically boxed DLC. If MS ever does do a 3rd entry they need to follow Borderlands 2 lead as far as progression, leveling, characters, story and all that stuff, while retaining the trademark gameplay that makes Crackdown so much damn fun!

Interesting timing for the thread bump …

Phil Spencer asking what people would like to see in a potential CD3.

Crackdown 2 was a bit gimped by budget, wasn’t given what it needed/deserved.
