The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct trailer is unofficial

A quick, moderately embarrassing update: it turns out yesterday’s trailer for Terminal Reality’s shooter The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct wasn’t an official Activision production.

The publisher confirmed with GiantBomb that it’s a fan edit put together from bits and pieces of an in-development build shown to IGN.

The hosting YouTube channel is not officially affiliated with the game, either. I should have twigged to that. It’s a fair cop, gov. On the bright side, the trailer has had a lukewarm reception, to put it politely, so knowing it’s not the real deal is somewhat comforting.

Survival Instinct is due in 2013 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and is a prequel to the TV show following the adventures of Daryl and Merle Dixon.

When I watched that trailer I couldn’t stop thinking about how it looked like HL2 mod No More Room in Hell, both the AI and the way the character (Daryl) was moving and his hand models…

Truth is: When Actvision wants money they don’t sell shit, they often encrust it with diamonds first, just to mask. That footage looked like the ground were the fecal matter was, after being violently stomped.
