Wii Mini priced at $99.99, launching exclusively in Canada

Wii Mini was outed yesterday by way of a leaked retail memo. Nintendo has now published its official product page for the hardware, along with pricing and photos of the unit. Check out all the details below.

Nintendo is releasing Wii Mini at $99.99 and it's launching on December 7th exclusively in Canada, with no plans to roll out across other territories currently set in stone. The console's official product page is awash with images and details, stating that the console is compatible with around 1,400 existing Wii titles - presumably counting downloadable games.

It's a red console that comes packaged with a WiiMote and Nunchuck controller, but lacks Wi-Fi support or GameCube compatibility.

Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice president and general manager said in a statement, "There are games in the Wii library for every type of player. Wii Mini is a great gift for the holidays that brings everyone in the family together to play. Wii Mini has a mini price, but it’s all about big fun."

The statement adds that Wii Mini offers "Great value for first-time Wii owners who just want to jump in and experience all the great Wii games that helped usher in a revolution in motion-controlled gaming."

VG247 contacted Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter for his thoughts, and he explained why he felt the release of a cheaper Wii model is a good move from Nintendo.
