Medal of Honor Warfighter: watch VG247 play the first mission

Friday, 26th October 2012 08:18 GMT By Dave Cook

Medal of Honor: Warfighter is out across Europe from today, and reviews scores have been middling to low. Watch VG247′s Dave Cook play the first full mission, and talk about gameplay below.

What do you think of the game based on the footage above? Let us know below.

Thanks for this. I wish you had recorded a bit of first / intro level. While that’s more of an opening set-piece than a proper mission as this one, there was one scene in it that I really enjoyed. Just after the explosion there is a moment when it seems to be raining containers. One of them is dropped on top of two others above an enemy. I was expecting him to get crushed but those two other containers…

Anyway, this is good footage and I think affirms my belief that with the patch, the singleplayer game is playable and decent enough. Still, the game should be judged based on the original / untouched disk content and in that regard, the game doesn’t fare too good.

@1 yeah the raining containers bit was cool. Truth be told, I did record it and thought I was recording my voice too, but the mic wasn’t working so I had to scrap the footage.

But thanks man, I haven’t played it much so I can’t comment on the negative reviews. I noticed a lot of them haven’t taken multiplayer into consideration in a bid to rush out their reviews – seeing as code was late – and I think that’s potentially going to hurt sales.

We’ll see when the charts are released next week though.

So I know you guys probably haven’t played much but is this worth a purchase?

I was super close to buying it the other night but the reviews really put me off.

@3 I could’nt say so far I’m afraid. I don’t like to make presumptions about games until I’ve had a proper shot at them. What I played so far however – first four missions – its solid enough. I think the messages are a bit off, and there was no need for a shock level in which you train for a Jihad.

I think that was in there purely to cause a reaction, and it left a bad taste. Otherwise It’s solid enough. I haven’t played MP either, but from what I hear it’s fun.

Campaign is actually much much better then BF3 and MoH 2010 combine.

It’s a shame about loss of early part.
On topic of perhaps rushed reviews, I was watching GiantBomb Quick Look of it the other day. They said they just got the game along with the rest of press not long ago. In other words, pretty much no one has had enough time to fully analyze the multiplayer.

The other complicating factor is the patch. I really REALLY hate this practice and feel EA deserves some serious smack for it. Maybe Danger Close’s game is the victim here, I don’t know. I just find the whole situation rather messed up. On one hand, the singleplayer game is mostly solid if rather uninspired and safe in terms of gameplay. On the other, they shipped a probably broken game and should be judged based on the original package and not the patched one.

On a side now. Yeah, the forced “controversial” thing is… bad. It hasn’t and probably won’t generate the type of hype EA was hoping for. One of the best features of previous MoH game was the more grounded (Even if slightly) and less bombastic / Michael Bay approach. Now that’s gone too.

Maybe people should wait for IGN review since they are conducting a full review after testing multiplayer.

I havent played the game. So I cant say anything about it.
I said so because I think their written review is not out yet.

I was being incredulous about anyone relying on IGN for anything be it news, previews or reviews.

IGN is a terrible terrible site and should never ever be used to inform a purchasing decision.

    Thank’s for this!

It look’s like any other war fps I think, and I usaly like them so im gonna get this regardless of any reviews out there.

Gonna wait a while tho, a few patches and a lower price and it’s mine :)

@14 no problem :) I didn’t see anything that told me the game was awful from the first four missions I’ve played. I also haven’t tried multiplayer, so there must be something causing all of these negative reviews.

I’ll maybe have more of an idea once I’ve played it more. Thanks for watching! :D
