Total War: Rome 2 releasing in October 2013, according to book deal report

Total War: Rome 2 could be hitting stores in the fall next year, according to The Bookseller.

According to the site, Pan Macmillan – one of the largest general book publishers in the UK – has acquired a new book series in conjunction with its US partner Thomas Dunne Books which will see the publisher produce four original books based on Total War: Rome 2.

Publisher Jeremy Trevathan purchased the rights in the series through Luigi Bonomi, and the first book will release in October 2013 along with the “global release of the game,” according to The Book Seller.

“We are delighted to be working with one of the most successful games franchises on the market,” said Trevathan. “What is also particularly exciting is that they have an in-built, committed community of players who are emotionally engaged with the games and who have told their researchers that they are hungry for more ‘story-telling’ within the games and around the games.”

Author David Gibbins will collaborate with The Creative Assembly to create the stories set in the books, while Pan Macmillan and SEGA will partner in cross-promoting the novels, and marketing the novels within the game itself.

SEGA has previously announced the game as a 2013 release without a month attached. We’ll send a mail and see if we can get any confirmation on the October release.

Thanks, DocSfiamm.

Normally TW games are rushed out for March releases. Are CA actually going to spend some serious time on this to actually release a quality product? If so, I may reconsider making this a day #1 purchase
