DmC Devil May Cry: ‘Vergil isn’t playable, PC version runs at 60FPS’ – Capcom

DmC: May Cry won’t feature a playable Vergil, Capom’s Alex Jones has confirmed. He did shed light on the game’s PC port however, which is being outsourced to Polish outfit QLOC. The PC version will launched after consoles due to logistical reasons – namely, that it’s being enhanced to run at 60FPS.

Speaking with Eurogamer at TGS, Jones said of Vergil’s inclusion, “I want to be definitive. He’s not playable in the game. I don’t want to be coy about that and have people think they’re getting one thing when they’re getting another.”

On the PC version’s unconfirmed release date, Jones explained, “I can’t give you a day and date. What I can say we’re endeavouring to get it out as shortly after the main game as possible so there’s as little a gap between those two as we can reasonably get.”

Jones added, “Because it’s being developed out of house by a different developer from Ninja Theory there are logistical things involved. But the plan is to get it out shortly after the ship date for the console version.”

Thanks Eurogamer.

1. DMC was always about consoles first and foremost. So if it’s 30 FPS on consoles it’s basically generally shit.
2. Sorry, but on PC I’d say 120 FPS would be good. 60 is not a PC selling point.

@1 For the like 2% of people with 120Hz monitors? But they say 60fps just as a case point, it will support what ever framerate you want.

Surely on PC it runs at whatever your hardware can handle?

Yes you are correct. However, if you enable a setting called “Vsync” (or vertical sync). Then the game engine, or it can be forced through drivers or other third party software, will lock the frame rate at what ever your monitors refresh rate is. Most refresh rates, even now, are 60Hz meaning it refreshes 60 times a second, hence 60fps with vsync enabled. The benefit of of vsync is that it gives you the ultimate in smooth gameplay there is nothing quite like playing through a whole game maxed out on a PC with a solid 60fps. But it does have its downfalls, some engines are coded badly and enabling this can cause stuttering (looking at you Bethesda!). And it can also cause mouse lag as well. Having it turned off with have your game run at what ever your hardware is capable of in whatever scene in the game, but because your framerate can be over 100fps in some games which is over your refresh rate of 60Hz it can cause screen tear as your monitor can’t keep up with the amount of frames being sent to it.

Its always funny to see that ppl have to debate about graphics and frames per second.

You know i don’t want to cast judgement just yet on this game, but I’m just not feeling it. The game looks bland, the animation is far from anything impressive. Each trailer the game gets it looks less and less attractive.

In case anyone is wondering about the ACTUAL GAME, rather than frame rate. I’ve played it, yes it’s good, no new Dante isn’t shit and yes Ninja Theory have made a solid DmC game.

Just saying :)

You will to have thank the fanboys over at Digital Foundry and LOT for that. I can’t believe how gullible some gamers are, no one knows what equpiment and methods they are using to do their so call Face-offs and especially those H2Hs…….but, if I had only a 360, I will be praising those sites ;)

Some gamers are so fucking stupid at times.

I did not see higher res textures nor dx11 support mentioned. Even dmc4 pc port had those.

@13: DMC 4 was one of those games that barely used any of the DX11 features.

I rather have a decent port, instead of another Batman Arkham City.

DMC4 had a DX9 and a DX10 version.

DMC4 PC: July 2008, DX11: October 2009.

hmm might have been dx10 then. Either way, DmC only has dx9 executable. Very disappointing.
Also, lamest game intro ever. Terrible music to boot.

If you pre-loaded it early it’s possible the game won’t run. Deleting local data and doing a full re-download will probably fix it. Someone fucked up there. However, before doing this verify local content from within the Steam Library for DmC and try the fix below.

Go into ..\Steam\steamapps\common and into the DmC directory. Run any installers therein. Probably a c++ redist, .net install or whatever. This happens quite often with Steam games; the installer fails to execute all of it’s parameters and the game just instantly closes on launch.

The game itself runs at a solid 60 (vsync). Cutscenes are pre-rendered at 30 and can exhibit some screen tearing. With vsync off you’re looking at frame rates into the hundreds for the most part.
