Madden NFL 13 sales reach 1.65 million in just one week

Madden NFL 13 is off to a tremendous start, with record-breaking first-week sales.

Having sold over 1.65 million units in its first seven days on sale, Madden NFL 13 is the fastest-selling Madden game of this console generation.

The tremendous sales came right at the tail end of August, keeping Madden from dominating the NPD's regular report; expect it to rank highly in September's charts.

EA Sports revealed some more interesting statistics or its latest football sim; online games have risen 31% year-on-year to over 24 million.

“That’s the equivalent of a staggering 47,000 NFL regular seasons in just seven days, and, on Labor Day alone, an average of 3,000 Madden NFL 13 games were started every minute,” the publisher revealed.

1.4 million players connected online last week, with Ultimate Team drawing 702,000 players. For some reason, EA also boasted of its social conntections; Madden's Facebook page drew over 1.3 million visitors, and the game generated 450,000 Twitter mentions.

Madden NFL 13 sold 900,000 units in its first 24 hours, having launched on August 28.
