Hawken’s PvE mode confirmed, co-op on the cards

Friday, 31st August 2012 01:23 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Hawken is a competitive multiplayer effort through and through, but Adhesive Games is keen to to bring in other kinds of experience.

Back in June, Adhesive said Hawken would “most likely” ship with a PvE mode of some kind. Speaking to PCGamesN, creative director Khang Le confirmed that it’s in the works even now.

“It’s almost like training, like you’re shooting endless waves of stupid robots, just to get players familiar with the weapons,” he said.

Interestingly, the last time Adhesive spoke about the mode, it said it would serve as a training aid only, while focus remained solely on PvP. Le seems to be thinking of taking Hawken co-op.

“We really want to expand once we have more time and budget and everything, to expand the PvE aspect of the game. I really love Lost Planet, you know, a bunch of players fighting together to destroy a giant beast. We’re really pushing for that because I think PvE is a lot of fun,” he said.

Hawken is due on December 12, and will be free-to-play.

PvE is really a lot of fun and Hawken keeps getting better everytime I read something else about it.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of PvP. I feel bad regardless of whether I win or lose. I just can’t feel good about it, it’s not in my nature. So whilst I was intrigued by this game and liked its aesthetic, I couldn’t really get into the idea of it.

But co-op? Now they’re singing my tune, and Hawken is definitely on my list.
