God of War movie ‘is an origin story like Batman Begins’

God of War is still get the movie treatment and hasn’t been canned yet, although writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton have revealed that the screenplay has needed a lot of reworking. They have also confirmed that it’s an origin story comparable to Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins.

In an IGN interview, Dunstan revealed that while the initial God of Warscreenplay was good, it did require some work, “The only problem with that is it was written before Clash of the Titans, Wrath of the Titans, 300 and Immortals, and those movies borrowed quite a bit from the God of War stories. It was just a little bit outdated, so we wanted to differentiate it from those other movies.”

But fear not, because it’s been re-written as an origins story, focusing on Kratos before he went on his bloody vendetta, but then ultimately becoming the foul-tempered beast we know and love.

“In the same way that Batman was grounded with Christopher Nolan’s rendition,”Dunstan continued, “we were attempting to do that with Kratos so that when we meet him -like they’re doing in this newest game, which is sort of a prequel to the original – we’re seeing him before he became the Ghost of Sparta, when he was just a Spartan warrior and he had family and kids.”

Teasing how Kratos becomes the monster we know and love, Melton added, “In the game… there’s that attack from the barbarians and Kratos has to call upon Ares to help him. Really, that’s going to be our first act break. Before then, he’s going to be mortal, and he’s going to have his family.”

“We’re going to learn about him and understand how he operates. So it’s potentially 30 minutes – give or take – of building up this character so that, when he does turn and becomes the Ghost of Sparta, we understand him as a human and we understand the journey that he’s going to take. We’re emotionally invested, so that it could go beyond just this one movie,” Melton concluded.

Thanks again IGN.

Sound good or should they just leave this one alone? Who could play Kratos? Let us know below.

@1 that’s the first guy that sprung to my mind too. His size in Batman was just insane. Those arms!

@2 and the intense insanity of Bronson. I could see him convincingly transitioning from loving father to insane, revenge intent godslave.

we have two gow games on the ps2, two gow games on the psp. then we have remake hd collection 1 & 2 of the ps2/psp version for the ps3… we also have gow3 for the ps3 and now gow4 is coming for the ps3… i think its time to put this series on pause for a bit, its overkill.

Feast movies (At least first 2) were fun horror titles but after the due moved onto Saw and Piranha 3DD, they’ve made crap after crap. So, it doesn’t matter who plays Kratos, this film is doomed with the current makers.

Why doesn’t Hollywood get it? Look at The Avengers or Iron Man. Do you know why they made so much money and became uber successes without presence of Spidey or X-Men? Because they were made by COMIC FANS who happened to be talented filmmakers. Either get top notch talent like Dark Knight with Nolan or Singer (TDK and X2) or get decent directors who LOVE the material like Whedon an Favreau (Iron Man & Avengers).

They should flip this series on its head and make Kratos a woman… And call her Xena… It’d be a 100 times better.

If that’s who is doing the writing then the film is doomed…

why shouldn’t they make a movie to promote the New World Order?

you people need to learn that Sony are part of the illuminant groups.
Regardless of them killing Michael Jackson and delivering his soul to the devil, Sony still want to make money out of Michael, because he has sold his soul.

A game like this as so much Anti-christ, blaspheme and things that glorifies evil.

Ascension has the image representation of how Jesus was hanged on the cross.
GOW is basically about the son of a God selling his soul to Aries and getting revenge against his father whom supposed to be God.
All has evil satanic signs.

All synopsis goes exactly how Satan wants things to be.
Watch the Monty Python version of Jesus story and watch Mel Gibson’s version of Passion of the Christ.
One makes you laugh and think everything is a stupid, not real and a joke. While the other makes you cry and feel sorry yet grateful!

People will play this game and think there is nothing absolute-doo-doley wrong with it.
But the truth is….it is all a big lie to make you think negative about the real truth.
If you are a good person…would you make a funny humour sarcastic game about rape? People who play it would laugh and think it is fine and not real.
But in reality it isn’t funny, it is a form of promoting evil.
A way to make evil look good.
