Konami’s Kōhei Uchimura takes gymnastics gold at 2012 London Olympic Games

Konami has announced Kōhei Uchimura, an employee of Konami Sports & Life Co, has won the gold medal in men’s individual all-around gymnastics at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Uchimura is a four-time Olympic medalist, winning three silver, nine-time World medalist, and now a gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

A total of three Konami employees represented Japan in gymnastics at the Olympics this year.

These athletes from the Konami Gymnastics Team were Koji Yamamuro, Yusuke Tanaka, and the aforementioned Kohei Uchimura.

Takuro Fujii, also a Konami employee, who won a bronze medal in the Men’s 4 x 100 metre Medley Relay event at the 2008 Summer Olympics, will be participating in the Men’s 4 x 100m Medley Relay today at 3:27 PM.

Thanks, IGN.

People witnessed him pressing;

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left Right, Left Right, B, A, Start… Just before the event started…

Foul play has not been ruled out yet! :)

Yeah! I heard thru the radio comments he’s like from another planet in his discipline, and turns out he’s a Konami employee?!?!

This is freaking awesome!

I suppose it isn’t commonly known that a major part of Konami’s business for the last decade has been Japanese fitness clubs. It has a dedicated Health & Fitness division, so I’m afraid there’s no guarantee that Uchimura has ever played a game, much less made one.
