Hawken may have non-competitive gameplay

Adhesive seems to be considering some form of single-player or training content for Hawken, which is good news for those daunted by the prospect of leaping straight into multiplayer battles,

Speaking to Ausgamers, producer Jason Hughes confirmed that the game is '100% multiplayer' but made it clear Adhesive isn't going to drop players straight in if it can avoid it.

"I have to admit there’s a lot of things we want to do for the game," he said when asked about a single-player component.

"Most likely we’ll be launching with our Team Deathmatch, we have our Siege Play which is unique to Hawken, and we’ll most likely have one other mode, and we want to give people an opportunity to get used to the game before they jump into multiplayer.

"That can be handled in a variety of ways, but there are a number of things we want to do with the game that may not just be versus."

Hawken goes into open beta on December 12, and will be available for PC and via Gaikai - so on Android tablets and some smart TVs, which is kind of amazing.
