Avalanche working on open-world game with Square Enix
Swedish studio Avalanche Games is working on a new open-world game with Square Enix, its announced in a recruitment mail sent to EG.

The game itself is said to be “ground breaking” and a “action title”
The mail was in relation to a recruitment event happening at the Baltimore Hotel this Wednesday, adding it was ramping up development on current and next-gen projects currently ongoing.
You can probably put Just Cause 3 on your maybe list.
Avalanche also said in the mail it was working on two other projects based on movie and comics IPs. Its been rumoured for a while it has been working on a project related to Mad Max.

Renegade Ops was so shockingly poor. Still can’t believe it’s the same Avalanche.
JC3 with a better grappling hook please.

For some reason Just Cause 2 didn’t do it for me, it had so much potential but after awhile it started to bore me to shit. I finished it, but i honestly have to say it lasted too long.

I never finished the story missions. They were awful.

On PC this is probably my favourite sandbox.

Just Cause 2 was maybe the best open world game to date for me.
In terms of going where you want to go and gameplay mechanics that ist.
now pair that with stories like GTA or Saints Row and it would be just wonderful

To Da Man. Finish the story mission. The last part of the game is so over the top. Just Cause 2 is a really beautiful and fun game. And since it is so immensely huge, it a game you can put down and come back to time and time again and still always be discovering new locations and gathering collectibles. Can’t wait to see what the next one looks like.

@3 I fully support this message.
@4 You got the sense that it was a hobby project turned budget release, but I thought it was pretty good. I wasn’t expecting anything more than a stupid vehicle based shmup, and that’s what I got.

It’s too late, #11. I ‘ve deleted all the save files =( I stopped after a mission after the one where you help out the old man with a gatling gun. Great game anyway, best sandbox since the original Mercs.
I didn’t think it was a hobby project, #12. I was really looking forward to a modern Jackal but when I tried co-op all I got was a dull, repetitive grindfest (a scary trend btw). It was to Jackal what Sonic Ep 4 to Sonic 2..
Both Assault Heroes on Xbla were miles better, albeit a bit on the rails.
