Google Play now supports Android in-app subscriptions

Friday, 25th May 2012 06:38 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Google has enabled in-app subscriptions for apps sold through Play, its all-in-one replacement for the Android Marketplace. The new system allows developers to bill monthly or annually, and all subscriptions automatically renew. Glu Mobile is the first company to get on board. I’m not to happy about it only informing the user after a renewal has occured. Say you have a 400$ yearly sub to something, i could easily forget about the sub after a few months and then BAM -400$ xD

A subscription to an app? What kind of apps are we talking about here? I’m thinking of moving to Android (from iPhone), simply, for the bigger screens available. But I’m not sure about the App Marketplace. Help?
