Trion Worlds and Syfy have released a short documentary video detailing Defiance, which is both an online shooter and science fiction drama set 35 years into the future.
Defiance is a singular universe where Ark Hunters roams the frontier of the San Francisco Bay Area, while television show follow the drama taking place near St. Louis, MO each week.
The game and the show will combine and interact to “provide the most immersive entertainment experience ever produced.”
In Defiance players and viewers are introduced to a world where humans and aliens live together on a planet ravaged by decades of conflict. The game combines the action of a third-person shooter, with the “persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO.”
Meanwhile, it’s TV counterpart is a character-driven, sci-fi drama which will influence the game, and vice versa, as both evolve together over time. Actions in both mediums will drive the overall story of Defiance.
Defiance is slated for release in April 2013 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
