Rumor – More purported screens of Doom 4 emerge

Wednesday, 29th February 2012 16:25 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Another round of purported images from Doom 4 have surfaced on AGB.

Bethesda has yet to confirm with us whether yesterday’s shots were actually related to the game or not, and we’ve sent a mail regarding these as well.

The firm did, however, confirm to VG247 that the rumors of Doom 4 being cancelled were “nonsense,” and that “Doom 4 is not cancelled” – essentially squashing AGB’s post on the matter.

DSO gaming has also posted some building renders and the first leaked music tracks from the game which have reportedly come from id Software’s senior environment artist Thao Le who worked on RAGE and Doom 4.

The site says all of the leaked shots hitting the net were part of his portfolio and the assets number around 170.

The site is also suggesting DOOM 4 could be a remake of Doom 2.

Looking at pictures from yesterday and these now…it looks nothing like Doom.It looks more like Rage early concept pictures.

@2: This is because, like Doom 2, Doom 4 will likely take place on Earth during Hell’s invasion. Similarities to other post-apocalyptic games will be inevitable. This narrative also jives with the other screenshots that were came out yesterday depicting a Hellish invasion of Earth. Where are all these screenshots and artwork coming from? It looks like they’re coming from artists that have been let go off the project.

I deeply suspect that Doom 4 has been put on hold for the time being (or was on hold for awhile then work resumed), hence the out of work artists. Out of work artists = cancelled/suspended/finished projects. Either that or these employees have an axe to grind and, for whatever reason, decided to say that the project is cancelled. Whichever theory you believe, it seems implausible to suggest that the project *hasn’t* hit some sort of a speed bump.

The screens do look like Rage 2 or something but I believe they “used” to be genuine. The original story about game’s cancellation is partially true in that everything that has been developed so far has been scrapped and they’ve returned to square one.

Looking at those DSO Picks its definitely Doom but it looks way too much like Rage. Its supposed to be a different team than Rage, but it looks alot like it.
Why oh Why can’t they just make Doom like Doom? I want a game where they throw everything at you, creepy demonic atmosphere, gory fights, etc.

    Hey Activision…. I want a new heretic!!!!!!!
