    Amazing. Five weeks.

And to think, it only came out three weeks ago.

Feel more sorry for Rayman Origins. That is an excellent game that’s not charted at all. :(

It’s nice to see a top 10 weekly chart that isn’t filled with crappy fitness games. Only one dance game here and the rest are decent to great actual video games.

    Also, Go Saints!!!

    @5 I agree.

I loved the demo and will be getting it as soon as it comes down a bit in price.
£30+ for a platformer (without user-created content) just seems a little steep to me.
    I’ve been spoiled by LittleBigPlanet.

I didn’t even know Rayman Origins was out…

    £39 though…seems steep to me.

@8 Rayman can be easily found at £29.99 or slightly less (HUKD showing the PS3 version at £25 at this very moment)

I also feel for Rayman Origins, UbiSoft were stupid to release it amongst these big shooters n stuff, it was bound to be clouded over by them. They should have postponed the release to January or something.

Maybe they released it to compete with Super Mario 3D Land? i dunno. It was still stupid of them to do so.

NFS The Run will be £15-20 in no time judging by this too.

Its incredible just how important getting the release date is for a title to be a success. Releasing something like Rayman, that doesnt have the budget to compete with the shooters during two big shooter releases is plain daft.

Had the game popped out during the quiet period, it could have made #1, but release in Oct/Nov and it just wont show up. Hey, maybe Ubi will blame the pirates for this as well.

It does seem kind of crazy to release Rayman now, but on the other hand it’s the sort of game that would make an ideal Christmas present – you can kind of see where they’re going with it. If anything they should’ve released it earlier rather than later – if it’d hit in the quiet period just before the Christmas rush started then it might’ve stood a chance of getting noticed and picked up later.

As it is, there are just too many big boys for it to compete – even within its own ‘family’ genre there are far bigger hitters – Lego Potter, Just Dance, Professor Layton, Super Mario, etc. Hell, even Zelda’s nearly out of the top 20 already, what chance did Rayman ever have?

Rayman should have been an XBLA / PSN title. If you don’t have Mario in the name I doubt you’re going to get a whole lot of sales with a standard 2D platformer at retail.

I really don’t understand why people care where a game ranks most of the time.

Whilst I obviously want to see companies whose games I enjoy succeed, some people seem to act like a numerical position on a list is the end all and be all of a game’s worth.

And these lists always lack the most important thing. Context. We have no idea what the actual numerical sales of these games are. For all we know, everything in the top ten has sold over a million copies each in just this week alone.

    We have some idea…

We can do the same sort of calculation for most weeks.
