Bethesda suggests 360 users hold-off on installing Skyrim until a patch is released

Friday, 11th November 2011 20:47 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Bethesda has said to hold off on installing Skyrim on Xbox 360 due to the way dynamic streaming of the game’s textures is handled by the console.

According to the developer:

“We’ve seen a few reports of certain textures temporarily scaling down on the Xbox 360, and not scaling back up. We have verified that this issue does not occur when playing off the disc and when the game is fully cached (not installed).

“Skyrim makes heavy use of the Xbox 360 caching system, and caches over the normal course of play while in menus or interiors. This cache can be wiped when other games are played or when the user manually removes it. We’re working on a solution in the next title update for those who have installed the game.”

So, to recap: play it from the disc until the patch is issued. It will make your game run and look better.

Thanks, Shack.

So now that they failed on Xbox too. Can they still blame the PC drivers for Rage?

Only Bethesda can make a game that runs better from a DVD, then from a HDD.

    Classic Bethesda.

I think when it comes to bugs like this one, reviewers tend to assume they’ll be patched away soon, so they dont count them in. Actually i’d guess that the publishers actively tell them that problems like this will be fixed, so they neednt point them out.

    Are you people serious?

It’s a minor, insignificant bug, that barely affects the game and will be fixed in no time. It in no way affects to quality of the overall game.

People will fucking complain about anything…

This what we testers call a tweak bug as it doesn’t affect game play and if it does its an easy fix.
