Rumour: Rare working on “mature” next-gen Xbox game, Lionhead and Turn 10 also making titles
Rare is prototyping a “mature” launch title for the next-generation Xbox, UK magazine Xbox World 360 has claimed.

The mag’s latest issue (via Silliegamer) that Lionhead and Forza developer Turn 10 are working on launch titles as well for the next-gen.
Rare has had a mostly Kinect output as of late with Kinect Sports and elsewhere, but did have Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo and Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts long before then.
Lionhead, meanwhile, has seen two Fable games come out on 360 this gen, with the Kinect-centric Fable: The Journey coming next year. The studio was also working on the revolutionary-looking Kinect title Milo & Kate, but has since been canned.
For Turn 10, two Forza Motorsport games this gen has come from the studio, with a third set to debut on Xbox 360 in the US next Tuesday and the UK next Friday.
A E3 2012 unveil of the next Xbox has been rumoured several times this year, although nothing has been confirmed as yet. Obviously.
Thanks, Eurogamer.

MS studios are working on next gen games?!
Next they’ll be trying to tell us that Sony studios are making games for next gen.
No, in all seriousness, I am very excited.

Fable 4, Forza 5 as launch titles… I’m excited! And good for Rare that they’ll do something serious again

If Lionhead’s making a next-gen title, it’s going to be Fable 4. But there’s a part of me really hoping that its brought back Milo & Kate and are making that instead.

@3 I think its a bit of a given that there a lot of studios working on next gen titles already. Ubi have already come out and said BG&E2 will be next gen.
Next gen is supposed to start within the next 2/3/4 years and that’s about how long it takes to develop a game.
The thing i find interesting about this is that if they are developing for next gen already, surely they have some idea about the expected specs of the machines?
Especially considering that they are first party studios.
Or there developing for current (or slightly more powerful) PC hardware standards in which case these titles aren’t really going to take advantage of the hardware.

I still think it’s gonna be about 2014/2015 before we see (ie at retail) new hardware. There’s still another software cycle left this generation, if not more.

Apparently the article also namechecks Remedy and Alan Wake 2 as ‘possibles’. I wonder how much of this is actually based on fact and how much is just plain old “we haven’t heard anything from these guys in a while, they must be working on next-gen stuff”.

2012 is going to be the last for the Xbox 360 and it’s… freakin too much time already.
Current gen 500 series of Geforce are used up to 15%-20% at max of it’s power, Processors? I don’t want to start here.
It’s time to move on. but how can MS interest gaming crowd? With what? Just Forza or Fable ain’t going to cut it.

@14, i’m not so sure. I think 2013 release, because they announced Halo 4 for the Xbox 360.
I’m not sure that MS Wants to fight between them two.

^ Unless Halo 4 is launch title for the new box also. Imagine they release a CG trailer on Spike VGAs and all people will say “cool, but no gameplay.. not interested.
”
They come back at E3 2012 and say “remember the CG trailer last year of Halo…. well it wasn’t CG

I think I’m the only person here who isn’t excited for the next generation. I am not buying any new systems until there’s, at least, 20 games for them that I absolutely can’t live without.
Still, knowing that the PS4 and whatever the next box is called are going to probably be very close to current high-end PC’s (if they aren’t, why would anyone buy them?), I just imagine the Wii U, which will be about equal to the PS3 and 360, as the fat kid, running behind the pack, yelling, “Hey, guys! Slow down!”

Well, if they can pull off a Halo 4, Killer instinct, and Fable 4 in the new consoles launch window, they would have a sure fire sell out at launch for sure.
