Deus Ex: Human Revolution mod pulls the gold filter, makes the game look better

Deus Ex: Human Revolution's black-and-gold colour scheme was a very deliberate design decision on the part of the team at Eidos Montreal - but fans have already modified it out of the PC version of the hit title.

You'd think modifying something so fundamental to the game's art style would damage the experience, but the end result of the mod is surprising.

The gold filter has been removed whilst other subtle changes have been made to the game's lighting, smoke effects and colour depth. The end result is a game that's a significant clip prettier than the one you get off the disc when you first install.

The downside of the mod? You'll have to have a pretty beastly PC in order to run this smoothly. If you can run it without kneecapping the game's frame rate, though, this is an amazing way to - wait for it - augment - your Deus Ex: Human Revolution experience.

There's full comparison shots of the mod against the regular game and less rubbish puns over on PC Gamer.
